“The way human beings attribute significance to objects hasn’t changed since we began having objects,” he said, fishing around in his box. “Even if we don’t identify ourselves as collectors, we are collectors of things. And things are collectors of meaning in various ways.”
The Museum of Endangered Sounds, by Brendan Chilcutt, launched in January of this year and is a small treasure trove of sounds from outdated technology.
Dave Bowman, of Dearborn, Michigan-based Design Turnpike, turns vintage license plates into beautifully crafted pieces of art.
For a project like this 60” x 40” American flag, it can easily take Dave 40+ hours to find, prepare, and assemble the 40-50 steel license plates, which get cut and mounted onto a distressed wood base.
